Wondering if I will have to one day confront the difference between a sister who is a "guitarist," a sister who plays the guitar, and a sister who is capable of playing the guitar.
Then there's me, the sister who wishes she could play guitar. Maybe I should learn (slowly) as part of this journey...at least I should have some sort of real-world clue about the instrument!

Your list is awesome. but it got me to thinking you might wanna think about women who play electric bass too-- because in the funk and rock context they're equally powerhouse and boundary-crossing. i think of the original throwing muses bassist leslie langston and my friend felice rosser of the band Faith as well as maximina juson who can be seen playing bass with T'Kali in Afropunk.
